Rt Hon John Bercow MP, Speaker of House of Commons, was the keynote speaker at a Leading Edge School Partnership conference organised by young people for young people. Our Student Council worked in partnership with students at The John Colet School and The Buckingham School to organise and lead the conference, which was held at Horwood House Conference Centre at the end of February. Around 100 student delegates attended from the 3 schools mentioned above and Burnham Upper School, The Aylesbury Vale Academy and St Bernard’s RC School, High Wycombe. Along with Mr Bercow, another invited guest was Mrs Louise Goll, Divisional Director for Learning and Achievement.

The theme of the conference was ‘We CAN Work Together’ and the aim was for delegates to take away ideas that they feel can improve their own schools and also their own education. The day was an outstanding success and provided an excellent opportunity for students to network, meet new people, and have a say on their own education. It also celebrated the achievements of young people and the inspiration they have to offer.
