PerformanceExam ResultsKey Stage 3 attainment remains strong this year. Teacher assessment showed that 93% of students reached Level 5 or above in English, 93% of students reached Level 5 or above in Mathematics and 96% of students reached Level 5 or above in Science. The performance of our Year 11 students at GCSE level was again very pleasing. 82% of students achieved 5 or more A*-C grades at GCSE, 70% achieved 5 A*-C grades, including English and Mathematics, and 67% achieved 5 A*-C grades including English, Mathematics and Science. 99% of students achieved at least 5 A*-G passes, and all students achieved at least 1 GCSE pass. It was very pleasing to see that the gender gap closed to its smallest ever figure, with just a 5% gap in favour of the girls. 32 students (23%) achieved at least 5 A* or A grades (a 5% improvement on 2008) and 52% of all grades were A*, A and B grades – maintaining the best performance in the history of the school. Our Year 13 students achieved an overall pass rate of 98.9% at A level. 19% of students achieved A grades, 49% achieved A or B grades (a 5% improvement on 2008) and 72% achieved A, B or C grades. Average points per candidate at A level improved significantly on 2008, with an average increase of 36 points per candidate, which equates to nearly a full grade improvement per student. Similarly, average points per candidate for all AS and A levels increased by 79 points per student – almost 2 grades better per student.
