Year 10 Trip to Berlin
Friday, 11 December 2009 13:21

On the last week of November from the 23rd to 26th, twenty Year 10 German pupils went to Berlin. This was the first year a group have visited Berlin and we had been waiting since Year 9 but finally we went and it really was worth it.

Instead of the exchange, this trip was a fully fledged tourist experience. We went to so many places including the Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate. We visited a language school for two mornings, and we were allowed free time to look around, buy things and try some of the food, the most popular being the curry wurst.

There was also a huge element of history to the trip. We visited the Berlin Wall, Holocaust Memorial, Checkpoint Charlie and other famous places like the Olympic stadium. We saw these on a two day tour run by a very seasoned guide called Angelika. On the Thursday we toured an impressive technical museum.

My favourite part of the trip was going to the IMAX cinema on Tuesday night to see ‘‘A Christmas Carol’’ despite it being in German! The trip was really fun and it’s bound to become a yearly tradition of the department so if you’re in Year 8, pick German if you want a fantastic trip to go on!

Thanks go to Miss Vincent for organising the whole thing and Miss Haggerty and Mr Lake for coming with us!
