Questionnaires

Parents and students will know that we have been carrying out surveys of their views about the school over the past few years. The results help us to bring about improvements in the service we provide. This year’s results are extremely positive and I am most grateful to all parents and students who filled in the questionnaires and gave us their views.

The software we use to analyse the responses gives a percentage score to each question, so the nearer the score is to 100%, the more highly rated by parents and students is that particular aspect of the school’s work. This year, the average score for all the questions in the parents’ questionnaire was 85.42%, which is astonishingly high and shows a significant improvement from the average in 2007 – 08 of 83.83%, when we first carried out the survey. The highest scores on the parents’ survey were for the questions ‘Staff expect my child to work hard and to do his/her best’ (91.83%) and ‘The arrangements for my son/daughter to settle in when he/she started at the school were good’ (89.72%).

  1. My child likes school (86.34%)
  2. My child is making good progress (86.20%)

It is very pleasing to note that since we started providing learning and progress reports to parents 6 times each year, the score for the question ‘I am kept well informed about how my child is getting on’ has risen from 75.8% to 82.82 %. One of the lower scoring categories was ‘There is a good range of activities including extra curricular activities that my child finds interesting and enjoyable’ (80.99%). As a result we have published on the website a list of all the extra-curricular activities on offer and the times when they take part. Do have a look at this information: you may be surprised at the variety and range of what is on offer – http://www.waddesdonschool.com/after-school-clubs

2010/11 figures in brackets

The average score for the students’ response to their questionnaire was 80.28%, which shows the 4th consecutive year of improvement, from 76.44% in 2007 – 08, 78.71% in 2008 – 09 and 80.12% in 2009 – 10. This year, students gave their highest scores to the questions, ‘Teachers expect me to work hard and to do my best’ (90.60%) and ‘This is a good school to be at’ (86.14%).

It is good to know that both parents and students believe that one of the key strengths of the school is the high expectations we have of our young people. Do have a look at the website for more details.
