Sixth Form

Six Form Logo

We are immensely proud of our Sixth Form students, they make a considerable contribution to the school community and are a great asset. The Sixth Form at Waddesdon sets the tone for the whole school. We expect the appearance, conduct and courtesy of our students to enhance the school’s reputation in the community and we hope they will become involved in a leadership role within the school and undertake some aspect of community service during their Sixth Form career.

Each Sixth Form student has a personal tutor who monitors progress, helps with target setting and tries to solve any problems that may arise.

While at Waddesdon, everyone has the opportunity of participating in a range of social and leisure activities. In addition, there are opportunities to take part in residential experiences, international exchanges and visits such as skiing, theatres, museums and galleries. Excursions are also organised to support Sixth Form programmes of study.

Meet the Team

Head Students

Head Students

Our Head Students are elected each year from Year 12 by a group of their peers. Chris and Helen and their deputies, Henry and Kelly, are the voice of the Sixth Form and attend regular meetings with the School Council and the Head of Sixth Form. They are charged with organising the prefects, and enforcing school rules. They also act as an important bridge between teaching staff and students, relaying information in both directions.

Mr Bushell

Head of Sixth Form

Bill Bushell, Head of Sixth Form

After an initial teaching career in Physical Education, Bill left the world of education for eighteen years, working in Human Resource Management in the finance industry. He joined Waddesdon in 1994 as a part-time teacher of GNVQ Business and Design and Technology becoming full-time at the start of the spring term in 1995. In 2001 he became Head of Sixth Form having primarily taught and tutored Sixth Form groups. He believes that Years 12 and 13 give a huge opportunity for students to grow, develop and achieve with around 80% going on to university.

Bill regards it as a huge privilege to work with the youth of today and feels that the future will be, despite contrary opinions, in very safe hands.

Mr Wilson

Deputy Head of Sixth Form

Ben Wilson, Deputy Head of Sixth Form

In 1998 Ben graduated from Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education with a BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science and a PGCE in Physical Education. In September 1998 he joined the Royal Latin Grammar School as a PE Teacher and in 1999 became Head of Boys PE. In September 2003 Ben moved to Waddesdon Church of England School as Head of Physical Education and in March 2006 he became Head of Year 10, initially to cover maternity leave but ended up guiding them through to the Sixth Form. In 2008 Ben was appointed as Deputy Head of Sixth Form and Head of Physical Education.

Ben loves working with the older students in the school; their energy and enthusiasm means that every day brings a different challenge. He is passionate to see that everyone receives the appropriate support and guidance to achieve their full potential and strongly believes that we should all strive for excellence.

Mrs Carr

Student Monitoring Administrator

Jenny Carr, Student Monitoring Administrator

Jenny's current role as the administrator for Years 11, 12 and 13 puts her at the heart of Sixth Form activity. Having started at the school in 1984 as a dinner lady, she progressed to the forefront of computer technology in 1989 from what is now the library office. Jenny continued in this role, managing the school's first computer room in what is now P7 before moving to the Rothschild and finally the Thorp building

Jenny is a great font of information and as she has overseen reports for many years she has seen students progress through the school to the Sixth Form. She keeps a tight reign on attendance and operates the administration for not only UCAS applications but also for EMA payments. There is no doubt that Jenny is an integral part of the Sixth Form experience.
