Extra-Curricular Activities

In addition to their academic qualifications, the school offers many enrichment and extra-curricular activities:

  • Community Service – opportunities include volunteering in Key Stage 3 lessons, supporting younger students as reading and Maths mentors, volunteering at the local Primary School and Pre-School or working in the village Wednesday Club for the elderly, amongst other community projects

  • If we do not offer an activity a group of students is interested in, students are encouraged to set up and run their own society

Year 12 Extension Studies – Be You, Belong, Become 

All Year 12 students take part in an Extension Studies session every week.  We organise for a wide range of guest speakers to come in and to talk to students about a wide range of issues including:  drugs and alcohol, the age of consent and STIs, road safety, employability skills and careers education, study skills, current global issues, politics, financial well-being, and so on.

Current guest speakers include:

Shaun Attwood – former stockbroker imprisoned in Arizona for drug offences
Natasha Devon – leading mental health advocate with a weekly LBC radio show
Tony Kelly – former professional footballer who lost everything to gambling
Emma Cole – campaigner who has lived successfully with HIV for over 25 years
Tier Blundell – excluded from school to PhD at Oxford University
Dan Allchurch – campaigner working to eradicate rape and sexual assault
Josh Lane – prominent speaker on online rights and former student
Amy Winehouse Foundation – advocating resilience and healthy coping strategies
UK Parliament – engaging with our democracy
